So I tried putting the downloads folder I made myself in after installing and the CC still wouldn't show up. I now have the downloads folder that I made myself on standby on my desktop because I read that installing the clean hoods would generate a new downloads folder automatically- but it didn't.

I have custom content enabled in the settings but nothing showed up on startup or in the settings where it lists custom content. Use Delphys sims2 multi-pack extractor from MTS2 - it will extract one file, not just many. I've tried making my own "Downloads" folder and starting up the game with it in //Documents/ EA Games/ The Sims 2/ and then //Documents/ EA Games/ The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (though the former made more sense) but neither worked. Start the game to have it generate the new sims 2 folder. So, it took me hours of troubleshooting to even get the game running in the first place, but once I finally managed to start up Sims 2 on my computer, I went CC shopping only to find there's no "downloads" folder anywhere.
